Museum Curation
My Heritage, Curation, and Research work focuses on hidden narratives within museum collections and Western history. I have a strong interest in LGBTQ+ history and creating welcoming spaces where these histories and stories can be shared in a safe and meaningful way. My Heritage work has always been co-produced as a team to gain balanced and deeper insights through methods ranging from active-listening to interactive workshops.
HIVE gallery Co-Curation, The Bowes Museum, 2024
A co-produced gallery space, exploring themes within the museum's collection that resonated with community members. I curated a display that interrogated gender in Victorian Theatre and explored the lived realities of actresses of the time. It was informed by the museum's co-founder, Josephine Bowes, her acting career in the 1840s, and her performances in breeches roles. I responded to my research by reinterpreting Victorian costume designs, questioning how gender can be presented within clothing and theatre.
The objects curated in this display told an informative narrative about Victorian Theatre and crossdressing practices.
Be You @ The Bowes, LGBTQ+ Working Group, The Bowes Museum 2024-2025
I was a founding member of the LGBTQ+ group at The Bowes Museum. The group worked with queer community members to interrogate the prejudices in past museum curation principles and highlight narratives that had previously been unexplored. This involved researching queer history, symbolism, and art history. We curated a series of gallery interventions and researched and designed an LGBTQ+ object trail. The group hosts Queer events and speakers, and is an active participant in the Northern Pride Festival.

An in-gallery intervention exploring the evolving depictions of the naked human form throughout art history. We questioned who was missing from these artworks, the motivations behind the depictions, and how they have shaped our perceptions of beauty, gender, and power.
